Junior Bison make waves at the EIHA Draft Showcase Tournament!

The Basingstoke Junior Bison recently sent 25 children to compete in the EIHA Draft Showcase tournament, and it was an amazing experience for everyone involved. This tournament is one of the most important events for young ice hockey players in the UK, as it puts them on the path to one day joining the England National team. The children who participated not only had the chance to compete against other children in their age groups but also got to experience the life of a professional athlete through various Athlete Wellbeing events and Strength & Conditioning testing.

The weekend was packed with exciting activities, and the children had a blast every step of the way. They got to meet and interact with some of the England and Team GB players, which was a dream come true for many of them. They were able to ask questions, get advice, and even take photos with their heroes. These interactions created memories that will last a lifetime for the children and serve as motivation for them to work hard and achieve their goals.

The Athlete well-being events were also a big hit with the children. They learned about proper nutrition and hydration, which are essential for any athlete looking to perform at their best. They also learned about the importance of rest and recovery, as well as how to manage stress and anxiety. These are all important life skills that will serve them well beyond the world of ice hockey.

Of course, the highlight of the weekend was the tournament itself. The children competed hard and showcased their skills on the ice. They played with heart and determination, and their hard work paid off with some impressive victories. It was inspiring to watch them give it their all and support each other throughout the tournament.

Overall, the Basingstoke Junior Bison’s participation in the EIHA Draft Showcase tournament was an amazing experience for the children.
